What is Good Crowd?

What it does

You build a portfolio of nonprofits from a catalog of IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organizations, searchable by cause and by ZIP code. Each organization is shown with its EIN, mission, location, and the revenue and founding year from its public filings. You set one monthly amount and choose an even split or your own percentages. Each month, the app charges your card once, divides the donation to the cent, and sends you one itemized receipt.

Who it is for

Good Crowd is for people in the United States who want to give regularly to more than one cause without managing several recurring donations. It works for $10 a month or $500 a month. It is not a donor-advised fund, not a fundraising platform for individuals, and not a place to run campaigns.

How the money moves

• Your card is charged your donation plus a platform fee of 6% and 30 cents. The fee is shown before you confirm, and it covers card processing and running the service.
• Your nonprofits receive 100% of the donation amount you set. The amount is split across them in whole cents using a largest-remainder split, so the shares always add up exactly.
• Good Crowd is the merchant of record. Each organization's share is held in its name and transferred to its own bank account through Stripe Connect in batches, once it has claimed its profile and finished payout onboarding.
• If an organization has not yet claimed its profile, its share is held while we work to reach it. If we cannot deliver the funds within a reasonable period, we contact you to return them or redirect them.
• You can change your amount, your organizations, or your split at any time, and cancel from the app. Changes apply to the next monthly charge.

Receipts and taxes

Every organization on Good Crowd is a 501(c)(3), and gifts to 501(c)(3)s are generally tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers who itemize. Your monthly receipt lists each organization and the amount it received, with the platform fee shown separately. We do not give tax advice; confirm how this applies to you with a tax professional.

For nonprofits

If you work at a 501(c)(3), you can claim your organization's profile, connect a payout account, and post updates that your supporters see in the app. Claiming is free and takes a few minutes; start at goodcrowd.app/charities/claim.
